Companies around the globe are liquidating unused and outdated equipment. As technology advances, more electronic components than ever are ending up in land fills. There are now businesses that specialize in IT asset recovery and provide on site and off site data destruction and recovery services. Businesses that upgrade existing hardware are often in need of a secure method for disposal. Electronic waste in land fills has become such a problem that businesses are becoming R2 certified in order to maintain certifications for clean recycling and e-waste disposal.
Computer Recycling
Recycling your old equipment is an option if the hardware isn’t so outdated that it’s not compatible with anything on the market today. if it’s fairly new, the hard drive can be removed, replaced, and the computer can be repurposed by schools or families in need of a computer. By removing the hard drive you eliminate the possibility of data theft. R2 certified recyclers have to abide by the certifications by which they operate. On site and off site hard drive shredding, and computer recycling services are available.
Shredding Your Hard Drive
If you have ever handled a hard drive then you know that these devices are not very shreddable. Enter the new era of computer hard drive shredders that are like industrial paper shredders for metal. These shredders grind through the housing and the plates and literally shred the drive to pieces, again, eliminating the possibility for data theft.
Use Certified Companies For Your Recycling Needs
If you decide it’s time for your business to clean house, don’t just rely on anyone. Find a certified R2 recycling company to do the job for you. A business like CDR Global is a certified computer recycling company and hard drive shredder. Don’t trust that secure disposal of your precious data to just anyone, make sure they are certified and maintain best practices while recycling and shredding electronics.
You read that right: Samsung still hasn’t given up on flip phones.
In fact, the company — as reported by Korea’s ET News, via The Investor — is preparing to launch a new model in Korea soon.

The device, named SM-W2017, appears to be a new version of an existing device with the same name that only launched in China, and the differences between the two are somewhat unclear. The report says the new device will be similar to the last one, with an odd mix of advanced features, such as wireless charging and fingerprint scanning, and entry-level specs, including a Snapdragon 430 processor. Instant noodles, ramen, whatever you call ’em — it’s always been there for us in our hour of laziness or when we’re short on cash.
But what if you could use it as a coating for fried chicken? Thanks to the brainiacs at Guilty, a restaurant in Sydney, Australia, you can live that flavour-heavy fantasy.
Think fried chicken sandwich, where the chicken has been coated with Mi Goreng noodles and deep-fried, topped with kecap manis (an Indonesian sweet soy sauce) mayo, pickled carrot and wombok, fried shallots and chilli sauce.
My…my god. It’s beautifil.

Zillow’s housing price estimate tool is facing its first legal challenge.
An Illinois homeowner filed a lawsuit against the online real estate database this week, claiming the company’s “Zestimates” feature lowballed the value of her house.

Since Zillow obviously can’t take a tour of every house in the country, “Zestimates” are based on tax data and other public records that are fed into the company’s proprietary algorithm. That means they don’t directly account for factors like remodels and the individual merits of each home. Read more…

New footage shot near Capistrano Beach from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department adds to the evidence that Southern California has a really bad shark problem this year.
“You are paddleboarding next to approximately 15 great white sharks,” Deputy Brian Stockbridge announced from the helicopter to the beachgoers below.
Thankfully, the sharks were relatively small and were not acting aggressively, so the area beaches were not closed but put under shark advisory instead, the Orange County Register reports.
“We haven’t had any reports of anyone being bumped or charged, just observations of them either swimming or breaching,” OC Lifeguards Chief Jason Young told the Register. Read more…

In today’s least shocking news, it turns out the organizers behind last month’s disastrous Fyre Festival are about as good at running a workplace as they are at throwing a luxury musical extravaganza.
Employees of Fyre Media, the tech startup behind the event, were recently informed on a staff conference call that they would no longer be paid, according to an audio recording leaked to Vice News. Nor would they be receiving a paycheck for the past two weeks of work.
