Marry your love of instant noodles and fried chicken with this incredible burger

TwitterFacebook

Instant noodles, ramen, whatever you call ’em — it’s always been there for us in our hour of laziness or when we’re short on cash.

But what if you could use it as a coating for fried chicken? Thanks to the brainiacs at Guilty, a restaurant in Sydney, Australia, you can live that flavour-heavy fantasy.

Think fried chicken sandwich, where the chicken has been coated with Mi Goreng noodles and deep-fried, topped with kecap manis (an Indonesian sweet soy sauce) mayo, pickled carrot and wombok, fried shallots and chilli sauce.

My…my god. It’s beautifil.

Homeowner sues Zillow for allegedly undervaluing her home

TwitterFacebook

Zillow’s housing price estimate tool is facing its first legal challenge.

An Illinois homeowner filed a lawsuit against the online real estate database this week, claiming the company’s “Zestimates” feature lowballed the value of her house.

SEE ALSO: 13 U.S. cities where millennials can’t afford to buy a house

Since Zillow obviously can’t take a tour of every house in the country, “Zestimates” are based on tax data and other public records that are fed into the company’s proprietary algorithm. That means they don’t directly account for factors like remodels and the individual merits of each home. Read more…

Model who posed nude at sacred Maori site says they’re not Indigenous

TwitterFacebook

Oh boy.

Playboy model Jaylene Cook has been on the receiving end of outrage for posing nude on top of New Zealand’s Mount Taranaki then posting on Instagram.

The volcano is sacred to the Maōri people, and Cook has received a deluge of comments, pointing that out.

A post shared by Jaylene Cook (@jaylenecook_) on

Hope your five mins of fame was worth the curses that will haunt you for life,” wrote Instagram user @maorimermaid, according to the New Zealand Herald, in comments now deleted. Read more…

Police chopper warns paddleboarders they’re surrounded by 15 sharks

TwitterFacebook

New footage shot near Capistrano Beach from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department adds to the evidence that Southern California has a really bad shark problem this year.

“You are paddleboarding next to approximately 15 great white sharks,” Deputy Brian Stockbridge announced  from the helicopter to the beachgoers below.

Thankfully, the sharks were relatively small and were not acting aggressively, so the area beaches were not closed but put under shark advisory instead, the Orange County Register reports.

“We haven’t had any reports of anyone being bumped or charged, just observations of them either swimming or breaching,” OC Lifeguards Chief Jason Young told the Register. Read more…

Everything is totally fine at Fyre Festival HQ — just don’t ask about a paycheck or the FBI

TwitterFacebook

In today’s least shocking news, it turns out the organizers behind last month’s disastrous Fyre Festival are about as good at running a workplace as they are at throwing a luxury musical extravaganza.

Employees of Fyre Media, the tech startup behind the event, were recently informed on a staff conference call that they would no longer be paid, according to an audio recording leaked to Vice News. Nor would they be receiving a paycheck for the past two weeks of work.

The Apple Watch could help doctors spot the leading cause of heart failure

TwitterFacebook

The Apple Watch could be used to detect a heart condition that causes over 100,000 strokes every year, according to a new study.

Heart health app Cardiogram and researchers from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Cardiology Health eHeart project teamed up to take a closer look at just how effective the Watch can be at tracking the most clinically common heart abnormality, atrial fibrillation (AF).

The irregularity, which is treatable but tough to diagnose using current medical standard practices, is the leading cause of heart failure.

The mRhythm project that resulted from the pairing looked at the Apple Watch-sourced heart rate readings from 6,158 Cardiogram users. The data was then used to build an algorithm to detect the distinct heart rate variability pattern caused by AF.  Read more…

Steph Curry lifted his social media blackout for the most adorable reason

TwitterFacebook

Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry recently said he’s temporarily logging off social media to focus on the NBA Playoffs. An assistant might post to one of his accounts here and there, but he’s trying to eliminate distractions.

As the Warriors await their opponent in the Western Conference Finals, though, Curry showed up on social media in a big way — and for an adorable reason.

“When you’re really trying to zone in and keep your focus, you don’t want to have any unnecessary distractions during this point of the season,” Curry told ESPN last month of his online hiatus. “We have goals to accomplish, and you want to make sure you’re giving your all.” Read more…

Trump and EDM get these lacrosse bros super pumped

TwitterFacebook

There are many songs to which a college sports team could hypothetically take the field. Players could run onto the grass while “Get Ready For This” blares. Or they could play some AC/DC. They could even blast that one song from 8 Mile.

Or they could layer a Donald Trump speech over an EDM track, as the Adelphi University men’s lacrosse team did.

That shouldn’t ruffle any feathers!

We know of the Adelphi lacrosse team’s choice thanks to video posted to social media by Barstool Sports.
