Selfie kid was the best part of the Super Bowl halftime show

TwitterFacebook

Justin Timberlake and his elk shirt performed the halftime show at the Super Bowl on Sunday, but the best part of the whole thing was watching this kid get his selfie and immediately turn into a meme.

Towards the end of the show, Timberlake made his way up into the crowd, where he performed the end of his medley. He stopped right next to this kid, who seemed like he was not expecting to be thrust into the center of the most-watched event of the year.

After dancing with Timberlake for a bit, the kid gets out his phone. He wants a damn selfie. You can totally see him lining up for it as the crowd celebrates the moment. Read more…

A trailer for a forthcoming Crocodile Dundee reboot starring Danny McBride, of all people, had long been rumoured to be one big Super Bowl ad.

Come Sunday, that speculation proved to be true. The trailer is actually a tourism ad for Australia, with Melbourne-born Chris Hemsworth promoting the country’s expanse of beaches, wineries and food experiences.

There’s also a short cameo from the original Dundee, Paul Hogan, who licensed the film’s rights for the advertising campaign for free, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  Read more…

Pink didn’t just crush the Super Bowl. She also destroyed some dude who said she ‘sucks’ on Twitter.

TwitterFacebook

All hail Pink who performed the National Anthem ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl 2018 despite battling the flu.

While her singing was the real show, she also caused a mini stir when she spit something out right before her big performance. The musician clarified what we’ve been wondering all night: Was it gum or a cough drop?

The answer:

It was a throat lozenge

— P!nk (@Pink) February 5, 2018

The more you know.

And, on another note, all hail Pink who, after her performance, took a moment out to call out some dude for tweeting the following ill-advised statement: “If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it 1000 times. Pink sucks and if you like her singing you’re dumb #SuperBowl” Read more…

So, Justin Timberlake DID do a Prince tribute during his halftime show

TwitterFacebook

Justin Timberlake included a Prince tribute in his  Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday night – and the internet is skeptical.

As TMZ predicted, Timberlake performed before a massive projection of Prince and sang along to a snippet of the late musician’s “I Would Die 4 U.”

The verdict? We’ll let Twitter take it from here:

GET THIS PRINCE SONG OUT OF YOUR FILTHY MOUTH JUSTIN.

— Allison P Davis (@AllisonPDavis) February 5, 2018

prince saw this hologram coming last year and snatched the talent from jt’s soul

— jaboukie young-black (@jaboukie) February 5, 2018

If they wanted to tribute Prince, as would have been appropriate, they should have made the entire halftime show exactly that with a supergroup of musicians#SuperBowl

There’s another iPhone X bug and it sounds like a huge pain

TwitterFacebook

Apple is dealing with another iPhone bug.

The company is “looking into” reports that a bug is affecting the iPhone X’s ability to receive phone calls, according to the Financial Times.

SEE ALSO: Apple’s not selling as many iPhones as it used to

The bug delays incoming calls from appearing on the iPhone X’s display properly. Instead, users hear their phone ringing but they don’t see the caller ID information or the buttons to answer the call.

It’s not clear how widespread the issue is, but it’s proved to be a huge annoyance to those with affected devices. It appears to have been affecting iPhone X users since at least December, according to posts on Apple’s support forums. Apple says it’s looking into the issue, but in the meantime, it looks like some users have been able to temporarily fix the issue by reinstalling iOS using iTunes.  Read more…

Apple is offering free repairs if your iPhone 7 won’t connect to a cellular network

TwitterFacebook

Apple is providing iPhone 7 owners with free repairs if they have one of the “small percentage” of devices that do not properly connect with a cellular network.

The affected iPhone 7 devices will show “No Service” in the status bar at times even when cellular coverage is available in the area. The defect comes from a failed component on the main logic board, according to Apple’s website.

The affected devices were manufactured from Sept. 2016 to Feb. 2018 and were sold in China, Hong Kong, Japan, Macao, and the U.S., according to Apple.

Uma Thurman’s story about Quentin Tarantino adds another layer to the #MeToo conversation

TwitterFacebook

After The New York Times published Uma Thurman’s #MeToo account on Saturday, one person dominated the coverage — Harvey Weinstein.

But the actress recounted two stories of abuse in the Times piece, one featuring Harvey Weinstein and the other, Quentin Tarantino. Only the Weinstein story featured sexual assault and misconduct, which is why only one would be classified as a traditional #MeToo story.

The allegations against Tarantino are harder to classify. They don’t involve sexual assault or harassment or anything that could be neatly categorized as sexual misconduct. But both stories, however distant from one another they may seem, involve an abuse of power that feels both gendered and familiar, adding a whole other layer of complexity to the increasingly intricate #MeToo conversation. What’s in a hashtag? A spark for our passions, in love and in war

TwitterFacebook

I found love in a hopeless place. Yeah, some would argue that a Twitter hashtag is something terrible. They can be manipulated by bots and trolls (#ReleaseTheMemo). They can be hijacked by angry users (#TellingItLikeItIs). They can be just all around strange (#KanyesAnalPlaylist).

The hashtag’s intended purpose — what Chris Messina pitched to Twitter in 2007 — was to bring people together. They do, my relationship being a case in point. I won’t bore you with all of the details, but TL;DR TechCrunch’s annual conference uses the hashtag #TCDisrupt and including those 10 characters in a tweet is how I met my friend turned significant other.  Read more…
