Thieves on the run after stealing solid gold toilet from Winston Churchill’s home

If you’re going to do an art heist, perhaps you shouldn’t select a target that’s as cumbersome and obvious as a solid gold toilet.

A golden toilet was stolen from Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Winston Churchill, the palace announced on Twitter Saturday. The toilet, an art piece called America, was part of a collection by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan that was on display at Blenheim Palace.

The toilet was stolen from the palace around 4:50 a.m. local time by a group of people, according to a statement from Thames Valley Police. Although police have not yet recovered the toilet, they did arrest a 66-year-old man in connection with the heist. Read more…

Stark new Saturn images give a detailed look at the ringed planet

NASA released its annual images of the planet Saturn taken by the Hubble Space Telescope Thursday, giving the citizens of earth an update on what’s been going on over at the solar system’s sixth planet.

The image above includes some impressive detail in the planet’s iconic rings where there are dozens of visible striations that circle around, as well as an updated look at the atmosphere with its gaseous bands and persistent hexagonal pattern at the north pole. The way the planet was tilted toward the telescope made for quite the shot.

MoviePass is dead (for real this time)

MoviePass, the once uber-popular movie subscription service, is shutting down. For real.

In a press release published on Friday and first noticed by CNBC, Helios and Matheson Analytics — MoviePass’ parent company — announced the shutdown of the service. Subscriptions will cease to work on Saturday.

“MoviePass notified its subscribers that it would be interrupting the MoviePass service for all its subscribers effective September 14, 2019, because its efforts to recapitalize MoviePass have not been successful to date,” says the statement. “The Company is unable to predict if or when the MoviePass service will continue.” Read more…

Amazon has quietly put the new 10.2-inch iPads on sale for $30 off

The internet has likely already informed you that Apple released an updated version of the classic iPad and the next series of the Apple Watch at its iPhone Event on Sept. 10.

What you may not have heard is that the new iPad, which has only been available for pre-order for a few days, is already on sale at Amazon (because Amazon has absolutely no chill). Though it’s only a $30 discount, $399.99 sounds much nicer than the $429.99 that Apple’s site is offering.
