Teddy Perkins from ‘Atlanta’ was at the Emmys and what even is reality anymore?

TwitterFacebook

Blink, and you missed the most distressing/hilarious moment to happen at the 70th Annual Emmy Award nominations.

After Bill Hader won best lead actor in a comedy series for Barry, the camera panned over the other nominees. And instead of showing Atlanta‘s creator, writer, co-director, and creator, it briefly captured what appeared to be a horrifying white man in an elegant bathrobe.

Thandie Newton did that, wins Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Emmy

TwitterFacebook

It’s not a stretch to say that Thandie Newton was the best part of Westworld Season 2. In a mess of befuddling plots and flashback shenanigans, her performance as the single-minded, fierce Maeve was the highlight of the show.

At the 2018 Emmy Awards, Newton took home the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, beating out Game of Thrones‘ Lena Headey, Stranger Things‘ Millie Bobby Brown, The Crown‘s Vanessa Kirby, and The Handmaid’s Tale‘s Yvonne Strahovski, Ann Dowd, and Alexis Bledel.

Newton was nominated in the same category at the 2017 Emmy Awards, but the statue went to Ann Dowd that year.  Read more…

Chrissy Teigen graces the internet with another awards show meme

TwitterFacebook

Chrissy Teigen, once again, is a whole mood.

Colin Jost and Michael Che’s painfully unfunny opening monologue drew scattered applause and awkward laughs.

In response to a particularly terrible joke, Chrissy shrunk away from the camera and cringed into her seat when the camera panned to her and her husband John Legend.

The queen of the internet did it again, upstaging the lackluster monologue by perfectly conveying everything we all felt throughout the underwhelming rant.

Emmys viewers agreed with every face she made.  Read more…

Michael Che and Colin Jost try to tackle diversity in sloppy Emmys monologue

TwitterFacebook

Saturday Night Live “Weekend Update” hosts Michael Che and Colin Jost took their hosting chops to the Emmys, with an opening monologue that referenced #MeToo, racism, and the current political climate.

You know, light stuff!

Their monologue kicked off the 70th Annual Emmy Awards.

Jost and Che were preceded – and upstaged – by SNL co-stars Kate McKinnon and Kenan Thompson singing “We Solved It,” a song about how the Emmys solved Hollywood’s representation problem.

Che began the monologue by saying it was an honor to share the night with the “many many talented and creative people in Hollywood who haven’t been caught yet.” Jost added that there was alcohol being served and that the last thing Hollywood needs is people losing their inhibitions at a work functionTrue. Titans clash at the 2018 Emmy Awards on Monday night.

The Handmaid’s Tale won big at the 2017 show, taking wins in the Lead Actress, Supporting Actress, and Best Drama Series categories. But can it hope to repeat that success with Game of Thrones back in the mix, not to mention heavy-hitters like Stranger Things and the recently concluded The Americans?

On the comedy side of things, Veep‘s 2018 Emmys hiatus clears the stage for a new favorite to emerge. Will it be Donald Glover’s Atlanta, which delivered a deeply thoughtful and highly experimental second season, to great success? Or maybe it’ll be Glow that rises to the top; the Netflix series about women’s wrestling has been an exciting source of buzz since Season 1 premiered last summer. Read more…

TwitterFacebook

It might be only two games into the NFL season, but it’s been a sorry affair for the Buffalo Bills already.

Red Teslas costs more now, but people will still pay for the paint color

TwitterFacebook

Tesla’s paint colors were whittled down in the past few days to help ramp up production and now the electric car maker is upping the price for its iconic red option.

For the Model 3, the more affordable, backlogged sedan, a red “multi-coat” paint job went up to $2,500 this weekend. It used to be $2,000 for the red color. As Electrek pointed out, when the Model 3 was first produced red cars were available for $1,000.
