10 of the best laptops for Windows 10

TwitterFacebook

Although MacBooks have grown in popularity over the past decade, Microsoft is making a bit of a comeback among consumers with the release of Windows 10 a few years ago. In fact, there are some benefits of using Windows 10 over MacOS X, such as functionality, ease of use, and touch-ability. Believe it or not, you can actually use many Windows 10 laptops like tablets.

Thanks, Apple, for making it easy to cling to my iPhone 6S

TwitterFacebook

It’s launch day for the iPhone XS and XS Max. And if it seems a little muted compared to iPhone launch days past, that may be because Apple is making it increasingly easy to hang on to your three-year-old phone instead — even if they no longer sell that phone.

As I wrote last week, I was in the market for an XS. But I was torn: I’m one of those people who believes the iPhone 6S is the last truly great iPhone Apple made. I’m loath to swap my built-in headphone jack for a life in which I have to carry around a Lightning-to-aux dongle just in case.

And yes, fanboys, before you jump in: I already use Bluetooth headphones! I just like the option to plug in a wired set of cans — the same option I am afforded on my latest-model iPad Pro and bang-up-to-date MacBook.  Read more…

Instagram says it’s not testing or building a reposting feature

TwitterFacebook

Instagram is reportedly testing new features that could dramatically change what your feed looks like.

As first reported by The Verge, the company is looking to introduce native reposting, which will allow users to share posts from other accounts to your own feed.

An Instagram spokesperson, however, told Mashable that it is not a feature the company is currently building or testing.

According to The Verge, who viewed two screenshots of the feature, the “seamless sharing” feature will introduce a “share to feed” button when you open the “…” menu in the top right corner of a post. Currently, users need to use a third-party app to repost. Read more…

Man tries to use Zillow to prove Kavanaugh’s innocence and ends up owning himself

TwitterFacebook

This has to be a glitch in the simulation, right?

Amazon just revealed its plan for total smart home domination

TwitterFacebook

In case there was still any doubt about Amazon’s vision for the smart home, the company just made its intentions clear: it wants to dominate every aspect of your house.

The company revealed a dozen new Alexa-powered gadgets on Thursday, including redesigned Echo speakers, a new subwoofer and amplifier, a wall clock, and, yes, a microwave.

Taking over the smart home

Of these, the $59.99 microwave (officially called the AmazonBasics Microwave) attracted much of the attention because, well, it’s pretty damn random, right? But while some wondered about the usefulness of having Alexa inside your microwave, it also offers the clearest look at how Amazon plans to put Alexa on every surface it possibly can. Read more…

This job pays $50 an hour to smoke weed, but you have to be an obnoxious stoner

TwitterFacebook

Who knew that being That Annoying Guy at parties could pay off?

If you have a tendency to interrupt conversations with “Well, actually,” question the percentage of THC when offered a hit of a vape, or snottily discuss strains when everyone else is just trying to chill out, then this gig might be perfect for you!

Here’s a sexy ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ Halloween costume that no one asked for

TwitterFacebook

Halloween is quickly approaching, so naturally that means the time has come to face an onslaught of wildly inappropriate Halloween costumes. We begin with the sexy handmaid.

Online lingerie and costume store Yandy is to thank for this cringe-inducing costume. Referred to as the “Brave Red Maiden Costume” it is very clearly modeled after the white bonnet and red caped handmaid characters on Hulu’s award-winning drama The Handmaid’s Tale.
