Little girl’s first ‘magic trick’ fools no one but the dog

TwitterFacebook

Sorry to play the Masked Magician here, but it’s time to reveal one of the oldest magic tricks in the book.

On Twitter, @mireya_anahii posted a video of her sister testing out her very first magic trick and pulling a fast one on their pet dog. Judging by her dog’s reaction, we’d label this one a success.

Judge Judy rules in seconds after an excited dog recognizes its owner

TwitterFacebook

The love and loyalty between a pet and its owner is like no other, and thankfully, Judge Judy knows it.

On a super emotional episode of Judge Judy a dog owner fought to get his lost dog back from a woman who claimed that she bought the dog legally from someone on the street, implying the dog is rightfully hers.

After Judge Judy ordered the dog to be brought into the courtroom and placed on the floor, it became obvious who the dog’s real owner was. The tearful reunion between the pup and the man was all Judge Judy needed to rule that these two be together once again. She couldn’t ignore the happy little jumps of the doggie when he saw his owner. Even the woman who allegedly bought the dog knew it, too — she knew that once the dog was put before his rightful owner, it would be a done deal. Read more…

18-year-old asks man for advice on her startup, he texts back sleazy messages

TwitterFacebook

It’s a sad state of affairs when a woman reaches out for career advice from an industry influencer, and instead finds herself on the receiving end of inappropriate messages.

When 18-year-old Lydia Jones contacted a male entrepreneur for career advice, the conversation quickly took a handbrake turn into creepy territory.

SEE ALSO: Yes, that controversial Google diversity rant matters. Like, really matters.

Jones’ says she wanted a steer on entering the tech scene in London as her start-up Trooops is based in the north of England and she’s found it “very hard” to find people “willing to help” with growth and funding in that area. It really looks like we could get cell-connected Apple Watches later this year

TwitterFacebook

The rumor that the next Apple Watch will finally include cellular connectivity is gaining momentum, making it seem more likely that the company will introduce its first standalone wearable later this year.

The inclusion of an LTE chip was first suggested by noted insider Mark Gurman, and now, two more typically reliable sources have corroborated his original report with even more detail.

KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who is one of the most respected Apple insiders in the industry, and CNBC both released predictions of their own. The reports both claim that Apple will bring a Watch to the market with LTE chips included, enabling users to get online without a connection to an iPhone to do things like download apps, stream music, and potentially even make calls. Uber was so sloppy with your data that it will be audited for the next 20 years

TwitterFacebook

Remember when Uber employees were reportedly tracking their ex-girlfriends and Beyoncé with a secret God View feature?

Uber just admitted that it had flaws in its privacy guarantees. The ride-hailing giant agreed to settle charges from the Federal Trade Commission that it deceived customers by failing to monitor employee access to their personal information and that it failed to secure sensitive consumer data stored in the cloud.

“Uber failed consumers in two key ways: First by misrepresenting the extent to which it monitored its employees’ access to personal information about users and drivers, and second by misrepresenting that it took reasonable steps to secure that data,” FTC Acting Chairman Maureen K. Ohlhausen said in a statement. “This case shows that, even if you’re a fast-growing company, you can’t leave consumers behind: you must honor your privacy and security promises.” Read more…

Mischievous pup who found the wrong side of the law is still a very good dog

TwitterFacebook

We all know all dogs are good dogs. It’s a scientific fact.

But sometimes they get in a bit of trouble. Maybe not arrested and thrown in the back of a police car kind of trouble, but they can be pretty sneaky.

Don’t be fooled — this pup is still very good, but he did take a little run in the wild that got him in a bit of a pickle. A very nice policeman brought him back in the only way he could — in the back of his cop car. Reddit user Ayayoska posted a photo of the extremely cute incident.

Facebook is actively deleting shares of ‘The Daily Stormer’ article on Heather Heyer

TwitterFacebook

Facebook isn’t just about shutting down fake news. The social network is actively removing posts that link to a disparaging article by neo-Nazi website The Daily Stormer.

The piece personally attacks Heather Heyer, who was murdered over the weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia. Facebook said it “violated its community standards,” The Verge reported.

Facebook has taken the step of allowing people to share the post only if they also condemn its content, which is not unprecedented but unusual, according to The Verge. Posts that include the link will automatically be removed from Facebook, unless it also includes a caption that condemns either the article or The Daily Stormer, The Verge reported.  Read more…

Samsung’s business card-sized T5 SSD is a must-have for YouTubers

TwitterFacebook

Two years ago, Samsung released something only nerds would love: the Portable SSD T1, a solid state drive that was smaller than a standard business card. More than just it’s tiny size, the T1 came with up to 1TB of storage and it was fast. Like really fast.

It instantly became the best way to transfer lots of files between computers, making it a staple for professionals like video producers. Samsung followed the T1 with the T3 last year. The newer model swapped out the plastic enclosure for a slightly larger aluminum build, the micro USB for a USB-C port, and added a 2TB version for real data hoarders. Read more…

‘Game of Thrones’ director explains the difficulties of shooting scenes with a CGI dragon

TwitterFacebook

Game of Thrones “Eastwatch” was one of the series’ most dizzying episodes, full of cross-country travel and reunions we’ve anticipated for years. Director Matt Shakman — who also directed the previous episode, “The Spoils of War” — spoke with Mashable via phone about how he and his team executed this episode and the great Western influences we’ve seen on Game of Thrones this season.

SEE ALSO: Did ‘Game of Thrones’ seriously just spear Drogon then go LOL JK?

How do you differentiate a battle-heavy episode like ’The Spoils of War’ with something like ‘Eastwatch,’ which is a lot of setup?

Very different. Because of the way the show is structured you end up shooting pieces from both episodes at the same time, so throughout the production you’re tackling both of them at the same time. So I didn’t really ever have to take off one hat to put on another. One day we’d begin with a dramatic scene, and the next couple of days would be a larger-scale visual effects challenge. So I just prepared both of them at the same time and then went about executing my plan as the season went off.   Read more…

Aaron Sorkin delves into the underground world of celebrity poker in ‘Molly’s Game’

TwitterFacebook

Do you know how many witches were burned at Salem? No? Well, then let Jessica Chastain tell you in the first trailer for Molly’s Game.

Despite that memorable moment, Molly’s Game isn’t actually about witches – it’s based on the true story of Molly Bloom, who for years ran the most exclusive high-end poker game in town.
