‘Framing John DeLorean’ documentary makes Musk’s Tesla all the more impressive

TwitterFacebook

“It’s got cocaine, hot chicks, sports cars, bombed-out buildings, Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan, FBI agents, and hard-core drug dealers.”

That’s how the son of former General Motors exec John DeLorean — who created his own car company, DeLorean Motor Company, or DMC — describes the story of his father’s downfall and the end of his car dreams in the new documentary Framing John DeLorean

That dramatic description could easily be adjusted to describe Elon Musk and his electric car company Tesla, what with his high-profile girlfriends like Amber Heard and Grimes, that pot-smoking incident on the Joe Rogan podcast, his bizarre accusations of drug use, his fraught relationship with federal SEC officials, and, of course, plenty of cars. But comparisons to DMC also serve as a boost to Tesla’s perception and reputation. Read more…

Byton’s massive 48-inch dashboard screen will also be used in its electric SUV

TwitterFacebook

Byton was the darling of CES last year, showing off its never-ending dashboard screen and other touchscreens on practically every surface of the Chinese’s company first all-electric car, the M-Byte. Now we know that nearly all designs from the prototype car will actually be made, including that massive 48-inch end-to-end screen up front.

This week Byton showed an interior glimpse into the final design of the cars as the first electric SUVs are made in China. The $45,000-starting-price car will make it to the U.S. after China by the end of 2020. The car will will feature the 48-inch gesture-controlled screen with Alexa (and Baidu) capabilities.  Read more…

Walmart has the Playstation Classic on sale for just $30 — that’s 70% off

TwitterFacebook

TL;DR: The retro-inspired Playstation Classic normally retails for $99.99, but Walmart’s got it on sale for just $29.99 — a 70% discount.

You know the one: It looked like a gray brick, had a meager 640×480 resolution, and left you with an enduring love for Crash Bandicoot. (Let’s not talk about that lame redesign, though.)

Sony discontinued that console back in 2006, leaving OG Playstation fans doomed to peruse ebay in the hopes of finding a used one for sale — that is, until it released a replica version called the Playstation Classic on the 24th anniversary of its 1996 debut.  Read more…

Ed from ‘Good Burger’ meets the Jonas Brothers in ‘All That’ reboot

TwitterFacebook

Longtime Nickelodeon series All That is getting a reboot for 2019, and it’s brought back one of the show’s favourites in Kel Mitchell — who had the “Good Burger” skit he appeared in spun off into a cult film of the same name.

In a clip for the skit’s reboot, the very famous Jonas Brothers drop by the show for quite the charming encounter with Mitchell, who of course plays the dimwitted cashier Ed.

There’s something for young and older in this one, nostalgia for all! Read more…

The wholesome construction worker influencer was just an ad, because nothing is sacred

TwitterFacebook

We regret to inform you that the construction worker father turned influencer who’s gone viral is nothing but a marketing tactic.

Omar, who posts under the handle @justaconstructionguy, captured Instagram’s heart yesterday with his heartwarming flat lays and love for coffee. A tweet by a now-private Twitter account claimed that her dad heard about influencers and decided to try it out himself.

As much as we love Omar the construction worker, it turns out he’s not even running the account. Instead, the account was an elaborate ad for Cuvée Coffee, a brand that “coffee lover” Omar frequently tags in his photos.  Read more…
