The vehicle that’s been called “the most beautiful car ever made” was shown as an electric concept car last year. This week the British carmaker announced it’s going to make and sell the all-electric version. It will be available starting in summer 2020.

YouTube ads are about to get a little less skippable

You might soon be seeing less of that “skip ad” button over on YouTube.

In a video titled Want to earn more money from ad revenue?, posted on the platform’s official Creator Insider channel, YouTube announced a big change for its YouTube Partners.

Any channel that can monetize its videos will soon be able to implement non-skippable ads. Previously, as mentioned in the video, only select YouTube channels were able to run non-skippable ads.

Parrot Anafi
$699.99
View Product
The Good

Foldable • lightweight design • Easy-to-use controls • Robust battery with 20-minute flight time • Great camera with a full gimbal

The Bad

No obstacle avoidance • No internal storage • In-app purchases for traditional drone features • Hovering at low altitudes is tough

The Bottom Line

It’s disappointing that Parrot’s latest drone, the Anafi, lacks many features, including obstacle avoidance. But the camera and easy-to-use controls make up for a lot.

NASA spacecraft captures first images of the asteroid it will soon land on

TwitterFacebook

A NASA probe speeding through the solar system has captured its first image of the asteroid Bennu, which the space agency will try to land on in 2020.

Once that happens, the spacecraft OSIRIS-REx is designed to collect up to 4.4 pounds of ancient space rock, seal the minerals in a capsule, and blast the capsule back to Earth. If all goes as planned, the canister will drop down into the Utah desert in 2023.

SEE ALSO: A 12-mile, underground lake may have been found on Mars. What could live there?

The space probe captured its first image of Bennu from 1.4 million miles away, which is pretty close as far as space distances go (this is about six times the distance between the Earth and moon). But as shown below, the asteroid is still too distant to make out any features or details. It looks like a fuzzy, spinning white dot. Read more…

‘Fortnite’ introduces an odd new feature: Thanking the bus driver

TwitterFacebook

Of all things, the simple act of thanking the bus driver became a meme this year. Beats us as to why.

Now it’s something you can do in Fortnite as your character leaves the battle bus, all because of fans who requested the feature.

The ability to thank the bus driver, who flies players over the island at the start of the game, has been added to the game’s latest v5.30 patch, and while it hasn’t been highlighted in the release notes, it was spotted by users in the game’s subreddit.

It’s likely the result of a now-deleted Change.org petition asking developers to add the feature in the game, which has been around since July. Read more…

TwitterFacebook

Russia’s biggest gun manufacturer is looking to take on Tesla with its new electric concept car.

Kalashnikov, maker of the AK-47 assault weapon, has gone retro with its new “supercar,” the CV-1, unveiled at a Russian defense show near Moscow Thursday.

According to media outlets reporting at a press event at the expo, a Kalashnikov media rep said the car will “let us stand in the ranks of global electric car producers such as Tesla.”

It certainly looks retro, with the design and body of an old-school IZh 21252 “Kombi” car — the Kombi came from a Soviet era car maker from the 1970s. It’s a bold design decision, a vintage throwback akin to the Fujifilm Instax camera. Read more…
