Just call your dad on Father’s Day before posting a photo of him on Facebook

TwitterFacebook

This Father’s Day, call your dad.

Your dad doesn’t care how many likes you collect on Instagram or Facebook. Just pick up the phone and call the guy.

SEE ALSO: You haven’t heard of this masculinity movement, but it’s exactly what men need right now

Listen, I get it — you want to show all your friends what a total stud your dad was in his 20s or share a cute childhood, family photo where you look completely adorable and your sister is in peak awkward stage.

But before you post a photo on social media, let him hear your voice.

Imagine how many likes this guy would get on Instagram.

‘Lust Stories’ is honest and messy, and Indian cinema needs more of it

TwitterFacebook

As Indian cinema’s worldwide audience grows, most people are acquainted exclusively with Bollywood – Hindi-language romantic dramas full of dazzling song-and-dance numbers that may or may not be related to plot.

But Indian cinema has always been more than that, just as Italian film extends beyond neorealism or and the French New Wave is just one piece of a rich history. Cinephiles may know Satyajit Ray’s Apu trilogy, which offers a glimpse of the type of gritty auteurship that doesn’t pay the Bollywood bills, but speaks to some truly fine artistry. Indian short films remain a source of this ingenuity and excellence, and Netflix’s Lust Stories is a fresh new installment.  Read more…

Spigen Classic C1 review: Who knew an iPhone X case could look this cool?

TwitterFacebook
Spigen Classic C1
$39.99
View Product
The Good

Colors are true to that of the iMac G3 • Two-layer build provides protection from drops

The Bad

Quite difficult to take the case off • Inconsistent matte vs glossy design

The Bottom Line

The Spigen Classic C1 will stoke all your Apple nostalgia feelings in just the right way. But considering the relatively high price and how difficult it is to remove, the retro look is the only reason to get this case.

Mashable Score3.25

‘Gotti’ has a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes and the reviews are priceless

TwitterFacebook

The reviews are in for the mobster movie Gotti which profiles the life of notorious crime boss John Gotti. Following the laundry list of excellent mob movies this should be an easy win, but Gotti‘s reviews are apparently the only entertaining thing about it.

The movie currently has a 0 percent Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes. That’s right, zero.

Tomatometer ratings are based on “the percentage of professional critic reviews that are positive for a given film or television show,” provided there are at least five reviews. Personally, I didn’t even know a 0 was possible.

‘The Onion’ promises it won’t stop trolling Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg

TwitterFacebook

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is getting a taste of what happens when you piss off The Onion.

The satirical news site has been relentlessly trolling Zuckerberg and Facebook for the past few days and promises it’s only getting started.

SEE ALSO: Facebook’s desperate for people to take its fake news fight seriously

While the satirical site is known for lampooning just about anyone and everyone in the public eye, the publication has been relentlessly trolling Facebook, more so than usual. Four anti-Facebook posts were pinned to the top of its homepage for much of the day Friday, three of which mention Zuckerberg by name or feature his photo. Read more…

Blood feud: Feds hit Theranos founder with criminal charges

TwitterFacebook

Disruption comes in many forms. For Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, it may end up taking the form of a jail cell.

The 34-year old Stanford dropout has been charged by federal prosecutors with 11 counts alleging she defrauded her investors and patients.

It was just a few months ago that Holmes, who once promised to revolutionize blood testing, was also charged with fraud by the SEC. In that case she agreed to pay a $500,000 penalty.

SEE ALSO: ‘The next Steve Jobs’ charged with ‘massive fraud’

Holmes’s supposed shady dealings were first highlighted in 2015 by Wall Street Journal reporter John Carreyrou, who poked holes in Theranos’ claims with a devastating series of stories concerning the company’s Edison blood-testing device.  Read more…

How to watch the World Cup (and other sports) live without cable or a TV

TwitterFacebook

Let’s be honest, there are few feelings that can match the rush of watching live as your favorite soccer team wins in PKs during the World Cup, snags a game winning run in the bottom of the ninth, or gets a sudden KO in the middle of the octagon. Even seeing these major moments an hour later — or worse, catching wind of them on Twitter — is enough to cause despair.

But how do you watch live sports if you don’t have cable — or even a TV? The good news is that you don’t have to rely on cable anymore in order to follow your favorite sports teams live, and these services prove that. Read more…

BBC reimagines the perfect human body and it’ll give you nightmares

TwitterFacebook

Humans aren’t perfect, but anatomist Alice Roberts knows how they could be.

On Wednesday, BBC shared a terrifying video in which Roberts reimagines the human body and creates Alice 2.0 — a version of herself with no errors and the most successful features of animals.

This, uh, different looking human model, has large eyes and ears, a chimp’s lower back, the legs of an emu, small pumps in her thighs to help blood circulation, and a breast-less chest. Within her lies a dog’s heart, “the graceful lungs of a swan,” and more. Casual. And oh yeah, to make the whole childbirth thing easier, she has a marsupial pouch. NO THANK YOU. Read more…

Shut the f*ck up, Marco Rubio

TwitterFacebook

Hey, Marco Rubio. Shut the fuck up.

Just. Shut. The. Fuck. Up.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio’s Twitter blasted out an ad for his reelection on Friday, and it’s the biggest pile of trash and as desperate an attempt at appealing to … millennials? as I have ever seen.

“What do you think of Kanye West’s new album?” the video asks Rubio, who responds by saying he doesn’t know anything about West’s new album except that he premiered it in Wyoming. Rubio then brings up drama between Drake and Pusha-T.

“That whole thing is so complicated,” Rubio admits.

Shut the fuck up, Marco Rubio. No one gives a hot shit what you think about Kanye West’s new album. No one gives a damn that you know about Drake and Pusha-T beef. Read more…
