Tons of Le Creuset kitchenware is on sale at Macy’s — you don’t want to miss this

TwitterFacebook

Having kitchenware from Le Creuset is like the foodie version of people with tattoos making sure that their newest ink is in every single picture they take.

“Oh, haha, silly me — I didn’t even notice that I left my extremely fancy French pot on the stove. I totally did not do that on purpose because people were coming over.”

These premium French dishes have started such a cult-like obsession, people don’t hesitate to pay the ridiculously expensive full price (just check out the #LeCreuset hashtag on Instagram). But today, a miracle is happening: Macy’s is having a massive brand-wide sale, shaving hundreds off of these status symbols. Read more…

French ‘Spider Man’ returns, scales one of London’s tallest buildings without a rope

TwitterFacebook

French “Spider-Man” climber Alain Robert is back at it again, scaling one of London’s tallest buildings on Thursday  — without ropes.

The catch? He got arrested at the top.

According to Reuters, the 56-year-old climber made it to the top of London’s Heron Tower in an hour. Standing 230 metres (755 feet) high, it’s one of the highest buildings in the city, so scaling this thing without any support in sight is seriously impressive.

People watch Robert climbing Heron Tower, 110 Bishopsgate, in central London.

Peter Jackson is on the hunt to find out why New Zealand is left off maps

TwitterFacebook

New Zealanders aren’t cool with being left off world maps.

In a follow-up ad by Tourism New Zealand, Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson joins the Flight of the Conchords’ Rhys Darby to try and figure out why the country is consistently forgotten from the Earth’s maps.

The Kiwi-loving Ed Sheeran makes a cameo as well as the country’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern in a bid to tackle the “conspiracy,” which forms part of its #getNZonthemap campaign.  Read more…

Get ready to roll with the homies again: ‘Clueless’ reportedly getting a remake

TwitterFacebook

Don’t even try to “as if” this news, because Clueless is in the works for a makeover according to a report by Deadline.

But the good news and outfits don’t stop there. Paramount Pictures also apparently tapped Girls Trip writer Tracy Oliver to produce, with GLOW writer Marquita Robinson taking lead on the script. That’s, like, totally the most perfect comedy duo to give this girlhood classic a fresh new perm.

There’ve been no shortage of attempts to cash in on the nostalgia for Clueless in the past. Two years ago, plans for an Off-Broadway musical adaptation were announced, and on Oct. 8 this year, a premiere date was finally set for Dec. 11. Read more…

Snap is still losing users, blames its Android app

TwitterFacebook

Snapchat’s poor Android app is still proving to be a major problem for the company.

The app lost users for the second straight quarter, with its daily active users declining by 2 million, and Snapchat’s lackluster Android app may be to blame.

“The decline was primarily among Android users,” CEO Evan Spiegel said in his prepared remarks during the company’s third-quarter earnings call.

It’s not the first time the Snapchat founder has specifically called out the company’s Android app on an earnings call. The company has been talking about improving Android for almost a year.  Read more…

Frontline’s Facebook documentary sheds new light on company’s mistakes

TwitterFacebook

“I realized that because I didn’t have people’s information I needed to make it interesting enough so people would want to use the site and want to, like, put their information up.”

That’s the explanation a very young Mark Zuckerberg, clutching a beer-filled Solo cup in one hand, gave in response to a question about the social network’s beginnings.

Though perhaps not the most surprising thing Facebook’s founder has ever uttered, it’s an extremely telling statement that might make you question how you use Facebook. It’s also the opening scene from Frontline’s new investigation into the social network: The Facebook Dilemma.   Read more…

Elon Musk had a wild quarter, but you wouldn’t know it from Tesla’s earnings call

TwitterFacebook

Tesla CEO Elon Musk saved all the drama for his Twitter account during Wednesday’s earnings call.

It’s been quite the quarter. This past three months saw Musk break down in a New York Times interview, tweet so much that the SEC got involved and sued for fraud, and call a rescue diver a pedophile (and get sued over that, as well). And that’s just the stuff concerning Musk from July through September.

Overall, Tesla blew past expected revenue numbers, bringing in $6.8 billion, far more than the expected $6.33 billion. It also recorded $311 million in net income last quarter, compared to a loss of $619 million a year ago.  Read more…

Cathay Pacific hit with data breach involving 9.4 million customers

TwitterFacebook

Cathay Pacific is the latest airline to be battered by a major data breach.

In a statement released on its website, the Hong Kong-based international airline said roughly 9.4 million customers had their data accessed, but said there was “no evidence” that the information was misused.

Personal information such as names of passengers, their nationalities, dates of birth, telephone numbers, email, physical addresses, passport numbers, identity card numbers, and travel history was accessed.

Credit card numbers exposed in the incident were from expired cards, or didn’t include CVV information. No passwords were compromised in the breach, and the airline said its flight information systems weren’t affected. Read more…
