The Foo Fighters just pulled off the best Rickroll of all time

Dave Grohl is one of the coolest, most accomplished musicians in rock history — and he can now add “Master Rickroller” to his long line of awe-inspiring titles, right below “Literal Rock Royalty.” 

The Grohl-fronted Foo Fighters interrupted their set at the Summer Sonic Festival in Japan to bring out a surprise guest: none other than Rick Astley, the crooner best known for his late ’80s jam, “Never Gonna Give You Up.” If you’ve used the internet over the past decade, you know that song, and exactly what it means. 

That’s right. The Foo Fighters Rickrolled an entire music festival, live.
