Epik, the domain registrar and hosting provider that frequently steps in to help deplatformed far-right hate sites get back online, has drawn the line at 8chan.
The domain name company’s controversial CEO, Rob Monster, posted a statement on Epik’s website on Tuesday. In the post, Monster explains that Epik — a company that hosts the white supremacist website The Daily Stormer — has decided to not provide hosting-related services to 8chan.
“In cases whereby Epik identifies a particular publisher as being under-equipped to properly enforce its own Terms of Service, Epik reserves the right to deny service,” says Epik’s statement. “Upon careful consideration of the recent operating history of 8Chan, and in the wake of tragic news in El Paso and Dayton over the weekend, Epik has elected to not provide content delivery services to 8Chan.” Read more…

The Eric Andre Show is a formidable fountain of surrealist meme fodder. If you haven’t seen an image in the past year of Andre shooting co-host Hannibal Buress and saying “why would X do this?” or used a GIF of Andre screaming “Let me in! LET ME IIIIIIN!” at the most minor inconvenience, have you really been online?
The late night talk show parody’s “plot” is always secondary to the quality quotes and off-the-wall humor that results in perfect Gen Z relatability. I’m not sure what emotion you would describe for letting a real, live Grizzly bear destroy your studio, but whatever it is, it represents the youth. Read more…

Wellness is a buzzy word lately. Over the past few years, we’ve seen a surge in all things health, wellness, and spirituality. Juice bars are popping up, boutique studios are becoming more accessible, and essential oils are chilling us out. These wearable devices are game changes for keeping tabs on physical and mental wellbeing. While some feature basic tracking, others come with advanced features like mileage reports and smartphone compatibility. Read more…

“One more thing – Manson is small. Like, really small. Try not to stare.”
The second season of Netflix’s Mindhunter sees the pioneering murder investigators Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) meeting the 5’2″ Charles Manson (as played by Damon Herriman for the second time after his appearance in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood).
The new season tackles the infamous child murders in Atlanta between 1979 and 1981, as well as the Son of Sam killer and the return of Cameron Britton’s horribly magnetic murderer Ed Kemper.
It’s also a mini Fringe reunion, with Michael Cerveris joining the cast, as the new chief of Ford and Tench’s serial killer unit, alongside his former co-star Anna Torv. Read more…

The former Tinder executive filed a sexual assault and workplace retaliation lawsuit against the dating app’s parent companies on Monday. The filing comes roughly a year after the alleged groping was described in a separate lawsuit that claimed Match Group and IAC Interactive cheated Tinder founders, including Pambakian, out of billions of dollars.
While Pambakian’s assault was used as an example of mismanagement in the previous lawsuit, this time it’s front and center. Pambakian, who was head of Tinder’s communications at the time, says in court documents that former Tinder and Match CEO Gregory Blatt groped her breasts and thighs and kissed her shoulders, neck, and chest without consent after a 2016 holiday party. Earlier in the evening, he allegedly told her, “I get hard every time I look at you.” Read more…

Days after one of its members shot and killed 22 people in an El Paso Wal-Mart, the hate-filled imageboard known as 8chan is finding it hard to stay online.
In a 180 degree turn from its original position, web security provider Cloudflare decided Sunday to terminate its services with the online community. The imageboard was back online via a different security service several hours later — until another firm that service relies on gave it the boot.
The El Paso shooter was found to have posted his intent, as well as a racist anti-immigrant manifesto, to 8chan. This year alone, two other white supremacist mass killers, including the Christchurch mosque shooter, had also posted prior warning and distributed their screeds on the site. Read more…

Microsoft is warning that a Russian group that was involved with the 2016 DNC hack is attacking corporate networks in a fresh attack against high-value targets.
In a blog post (via ZDNet), the Microsoft Threat Intelligence Center says the Russian hacking group known as Strontium (perhaps more widely known as Fancy Bear) is responsible for the new attack, which occurred in April.
According to Microsoft, the attack went after “a VOIP phone, an office printer, and a video decoder,” exploiting some pretty poor security measures that we’re all likely guilty of to gain access: unchanged default passwords. Read more…
