‘Queer Eye’s first trans participant speaks out about the episode

TwitterFacebook

For a show that features extraordinarily handsome cis gay men who do elaborate makeovers, Queer Eye has generated a shockingly low level of controversy.

Still, exceptions exist. Some critics took issue with this show’s handling of its first ever trans client, Skyler Jay. In a new interview with them., Jay defended the Fab Five and explained why the episode took the direction it did.

Chris Hemsworth’s role in ‘The Cabin in the Woods’ is by far his sexiest

TwitterFacebook

Welcome to Chris-mas in July, a week-long celebration of our four favorite Hollywood Chrises. We’ll be analyzing old movies, digging deep into past roles, and exploring everything there is to know about Evans, Hemsworth, Pine and Pratt. We hope this totally made up holiday makes you smile.

Deep breath, Marvel fans. Hear me out.

Sure, Thor is a bonafide grade-A, beef cake. Even if eye candy staples KJ Apa, Ryan Reynolds, and David Beckham were thrown into a sexy blender, they could not be as sexy as one Thor. (Actually, even attempting that would probably be horrifying. Please disregard.)

This is One Good Thing, a weekly column where we tell you about the only nice thing that happened on the internet this week.

It’s been a long, hot week for many of us. The constant presence of sweat, on top of continuous political chaos and the confusing nature of a mid-week holiday break, can be a lot to deal with.

Beyoncé, however, is here to help.

Oprah just Googled herself for the first time ever and learned so much

TwitterFacebook

Oprah is so humble it took her until 2018 to Google herself.

For comparison, I first “Googled” myself with WebCrawler in 1997.

Either way, it’s disarming. Oprah revealed the results of her very first Google in an interview with British Vogue this week.

MoviePass was down for hours, ruining everyone’s Friday night

TwitterFacebook

Frustrated moviegoers let out a collective scream Friday night when MoviePass stopped working.

As customers from across the country tried to purchase tickets, they were left confused as the popular app that lets you pay a monthly subscription fee was down for several hours. The company announced on Twitter that it was aware of the issue around 7:45 p.m. ET — after social media users had complained prior —  and asked moviegoers to buy tickets at full price from the theater in exchange for a refund at a later date. The company resolved the issue around 9:30 p.m. ET and asked customers to wait to submit their refund requests until Saturday. Read more…

Artist brilliantly animates ‘This Is America’ using Apple computers from the ’80s

TwitterFacebook

Donald Glover’s “This Is America” is one of 2018’s most iconic songs — from its striking imagery, to its choppy dance sequence.

Animator Wahyu Ichwandardi, also known as Pinot, has been documenting his attempt to capture Childish Gambino’s “This Is America” choreography since the beginning of June. Using ancient software, he created a dance sequence straight out of 1985.

Twitter actually followed through on upping its fake-account-banning game

TwitterFacebook

It’s a Silicon Valley tale as old as time. A company publicly screws up, promises to make things better, and then continues to repeat the same mistakes. But maybe, just maybe, Twitter is delivering some much needed edits to that particular fable.

As reported by the Washington Post, the San Francisco-based social media company has stepped up efforts to kick so-called fake accounts off the platform, and has found at least some success in its efforts. But that success might come at the cost of the company’s bottom line.

After a video of Valkyrie was shared on her breeder’s Instagram, the internet quickly took notice of her resemblance to, well, a human.

It’s hard to put a finger on what exactly makes Valkyrie look so much like a person. Maybe it’s her bone structure? Or the way her eyes seem to follow you like a haunted painting? Nevertheless, I’m certain Valkyrie is going to be the last thing I see before I die. Read more…
