Samsung is mostly known for its Galaxy smartphones and home appliances, but its big breakthrough in laptops might come this year.

At CES 2019, we got to take a look the 2019 Notebook 9 Pro to see whether the Korean electronics giant has what it takes to compete head-to-head with last year’s best laptops: Microsoft’s Surface Laptop 2, Huawei’s MateBook X Pro, and Apple’s MacBook Pro.

Dear CES, Captain America is not here for your bullshit. 

As the tech journalists of the world converge en masse this week on the annual Las Vegas consumer electronics show known as CES, Chris Evans — the actor who famously stars as Captain America in the Marvel cinematic universe — tweeted a message seemingly tailored to dunk on the convention’s entire raison d’etre. Namely, that so-called “smart” gadgets are trash. 

“Dear All Technology,” wrote the embodiment of a certain kind of American fantasy, “Remember the 90’s when you just WORKED??? I don’t need a ‘smart’ feature on my TV, thermostat, lights, music, refrigerator, security cameras, and f-ing car.” Read more…

Someone turned the iconic fire drill scene from The Office into a horror short, and it might give you nightmares. 

By removing the jokes, adding music from Captain America: Winter Soldier, and darkening the scene to a more ominous color scheme, Austin Spencer made paper salesman Dwight K. Schrute look like an absolute psychopath. 

(Granted, Dwight usually seemed a bit psychopathic in the show, but in a lovable way!)

Last year’s Crazy Rich Asians was a landmark moment for representation in Hollywood.

In a sincere and kind opener, Golden Globes co-host Sandra Oh praised the groundbreaking movie, calling it “the first studio film with an Asian-American lead since Ghost in the Shell and Aloha.”

Quick to respond to the burn was Emma Stone, who was cast as the quarter-Hawaiian and quarter-Chinese Allison Ng in 2015’s much-criticized Aloha.

Call over the Globes bartenders cause we’re gonna need some ice for these burns. 

Coming off of an astoundingly successful and record-breaking holiday streaming season, Netflix seems to have felt just a little left out of Sunday night’s Golden Globes festivities—despite a number of its projects being honored during the ceremony.

Posting to their official Twitter account, Netflix delivered the following scorching burn during the show.

Game of Thrones fans have been starved for months for a look at the show’s final season, and we finally got one during the 2019 Golden Globe Awards.

In a new promo for HBO’s 2019 seasons, we witness Sansa Stark’s first meeting with Daenerys Targaryen, who arrives in Winterfell on the arm of Jon Snow.

“Winterfell is yours, your grace,” says Sansa. We can only imagine how loaded those words are from one queen to another – Jon’s relationship to either notwithstanding. Also, Dany’s winter furs are fresh as hell!

The Golden Globes this year were sick.

So sick in fact, that co-hosts Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg decided to give out “$50,000 worth” of FREE FLU SHOTS to attendees in place of something far more enjoyable like delivery pizza.

In the unexpected bit, “trained nurses” emerged from the stage to LMFAO’s good old club banger “Shots” and made their way through the audience of nervous celebs with needles in hand. 

Samberg assured folks this is what they came for, pointing out all the sleeveless dresses in the room, and gave any anti-vaxxers in the room — who were probably seconds away from standing up and walking out — a generous head’s up. Read more…

You may remember Byton, which made a bit of a splash at last year’s CES with its concept car that was more futuristic playroom than advanced automobile. 

Its most notable innovation was the UI: Instead of a dashboard, there was a 48-inch curved touchscreen. The interface eschewed traditional buttons in favor of touch (via a touchscreen in the steering wheel), gesture, and voice.

It was also totally nuts. Byton’s high-tech dashboard was an interesting idea, but it was so unlike anything in today’s cars that bringing it to a production model seemed years, if not decades away.

Well, it may be coming a lot sooner than that. At CES 2019, Byton said its cockpit-like driving experience will be coming this year, a key feature of its M-Byte production model. The electric car, which Byton only started designing a little over two years ago, will be “on the road” by the end of 2019, company executives said.  Read more…

The Golden Globes red carpet is full of celebrities, but there’s only one true star in our eyes.

That’s the FIJI Water woman, as we’ve come to know her, who dazzled the internet with a rather strong commitment to the art of blatant promotion.

While many strong-armed employees have carried trays of bottled artesian water in Hollywood before, few can match the passion and the intensity of one promotional staffer for FIJI Water, who managed to photobomb relentlessly during the award ceremony’s red carpet event on Sunday.

Look at her, bottles at the ready, staring into the camera. She was everywhere, and you could only wish for this level of commitment from your team. Read more…

The 2019 Golden Globes kicked off Sunday night with our dream hosts, Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg.

Oh and Samberg joked that they were hosting because they’re the only people in Hollywood who haven’t said something offensive. They then proceeded to trash the “race” of the Hollywood Half-Marathon.

Instead of roasting the night’s nominees (“Gervais-style”), Oh and Samberg dished out glowing compliments in derisive tones (“Michael B. Jordan?” “More like Michael B. Buff A.F. You a snack, Michael!”).

Oh and Samberg all but stole the show at the 2018 Emmys, where they presented together and miraculously met for the first time. Their natural chemistry and almost-immediate Twitter reactions begging them to host something contributed to NBC snapping the two up for the Globes. Read more…
