BMW reveals all-electric SUV pricing, fast-charging specs

When BMW set out to make the iX, it promised to stuff all the latest tech available into its all-electric SUV.

While there was plenty to drool over at the unveiling of its technology flagship on Tuesday in Los Angeles, several of the forward-thinking tech features BMW had showcased in a concept car that preceded the iX didn’t make it into the production vehicle. And a lot of the coolest driving assistance options, like having the car change lanes for you or follow the car in front of you, don’t come standard — something other all-electric SUV manufacturers already offer.

The all-wheel drive BMW iX, which is set to go on sale sometime between January and March 2022, will start at $83,200, go about 300 miles on a single charge, has a top speed of 144 mph, and bursts from 0-62 mph in 4.6 seconds. Its dual motors provide 516 horsepower. Read more…

6 personal finance podcasts that won’t bore you to death

6 personal finance podcasts that won't bore you to death

Unless you studied finance, learning how to balance your checkbook, invest in stocks, and save for retirement is no easy task. A large swath of people in the U.S. simply don’t know much about their own personal finance.

According to data from the S&P Global FinLit Survey, conducted by the World Bank, Gallup, and George Washington University, the U.S. was ranked 14th globally in its citizens’ financial literacy. The research also found that just 57 percent of American adults are financially literate.

Thankfully, there are podcasts designed to solve the finance educational gap. For auditory learners, podcasts can be the perfect vehicles to learn more about your personal finance and, eventually, put that knowledge to good use and create more wealth. Here are a few of our favorites. Read more…

I love ‘The Bold Type,’ but it’s a decade late

I love 'The Bold Type,' but it's a decade late

Welcome to Fix It, our series examining projects we love — save for one tiny change we wish we could make.

I love The Bold Type, but it frustrates me endlessly.

Over the years, the Freeform dramedy about three young women working at a magazine has displayed a maddening disregard for verisimilitude, and for the most part that adds to its charm. But with the final episodes now airing, I can’t help wonder what The Bold Type could have been — what it perhaps thought it was all along — with just the slightest attention to reality of what it’s like to work in media.

A quick overview: Jane (Katie Stevens), Kat (Aisha Dee) and Sutton (Meghann Fahy) are best friends who met while interning for Scarlet magazine, part of the multimedia conglomerate Safford, not unlike Conde Nast or Hearst (it’s loosely based on the life of real-life Cosmopolitan editor Joanna Coles). I was skeptical going into Season 1, but found myself won over by the enduring TV fantasy of New York City, the leads’ chemistry, and Sutton’s steamy affair with Safford board member Richard (Samuel Page). A friend of mine who worked at a magazine said she was afraid to watch in case it might be triggering to her own trials and tribulations in the world of print media. Read more…

‘iCarly’ is all grown up in trailer for Paramount+ revival

'iCarly' is all grown up in trailer for Paramount+ revival

After nearly a decade, Miranda Cosgrove returns to the role of Carly Shay, a teenager who created a wacky web series with her friends.

In Paramount+’s iCarly revival, Carly is starting her show up again with the help of her brother Spencer (Jerry Trainor) and friend Freddie (Nathan Kress). Along for the ride are two new characters: Carly’s roommate Harper (Laci Mosley) and Freddie’s stepdaughter Millicent (Jaidyn Triplett). The crew has definitely grown up, and so, the trailer seems to suggest, has the show. After all, Spencer saying “dammit!” would never have flown on Nickelodeon.

To see what else has changed (and what may have stayed the same), watch the iCarly revival on Paramount+ starting June 17. Read more…

Move over, TikTok. Paste Keyboard tops the App Store.

Move over, TikTok. Paste Keyboard tops the App Store.

You thought it took algorithmic brilliance and app-native influencers to top the App Store charts? Nope. Apparently, all it takes is a quick little copy and paste tool.

According to Cult of Mac, TikTok had been sitting pretty at the top of the iOS App Store charts since April 2020. (There was a brief disruption in its reign in August 2020, when YouTube snagged the top spot.)

But on May 30, the keyboard shortcut app Paste Keyboard dethroned the short video queen. Needless to say, everyone is confused.

Mashable asked the mobile data and analytics platform App Annie for insight into how exactly Paste Keyboard suddenly shot to the top. The app was ranked #910 in Utilities apps on iPhones on May 27, and climbed to #1 in Utilities and #5 overall on May 28. Two days later, Paste Keyboard overtook the #1 spot overall on May 30, and remains there as of June 1.  Read more…

Amazon already has a page of Father's Day gifts on sale

Save up to 35%: Amazon has already kickstarted its page of curated Father’s Day deals. Items up for grabs on June 1 include Bose earbuds, Garmin smartwatches, and leather duffel bags.

Many of last year’s Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebrations were reduced to Zoom calls and mailed gifts that probably arrived late. We’ve plucked a few items that we think will be home runs below, but you can keep tabs on all sale items here.  Read more…

If you like Pornhub, these raunchy dating sites are worthy alternatives

As temperatures start to rise in summer, so do libidos.
