Save $70: The Apple TV 4K (32GB, 4th gen) is on sale for $99 at Walmart as of June 21.

Fire TV gear is one of Amazon’s heavy hitters for Prime Day. 

Walmart technically can’t compete directly. It simply doesn’t have a huge proprietary streaming platform like that. So it said fine — our version of a Prime Day streaming deal will be dropping the 32GB Apple TV 4K below $100.

This 4th gen model doesn’t have the nice, upgraded remote that Apple just released in April. But we can probably thank that new version for giving the go-ahead to such a juicy discount. Even the previous Apple TV 4K rarely sees discounts — the best deal we could find during Cyber Monday was a $50 Apple gift card tacked onto full price Apple TV 4Ks from Apple’s website itself. There are plenty of great tablets out there, but none quite like the iPad. We’re not saying that Apple is the best for everyone, but it’s hard to deny that they’ve pretty much made the word “tablet” synonymous with “iPad.”

The Hubble Space Telescope captured a brilliant image of spiral galaxy NGC 3254, which has a particularly luminescent and active core emitting as much energy as the rest of the galaxy combined.

NGC 3254 is classified as a Seyfert galaxy. Seyfert galaxies are defined by their extremely active centers. Why are they so active? They each have a supermassive black hole in them.

The intense gravitational pull of supermassive black holes whip gases, dusts, stars, planetary bodies, and other material into a frenzy of high-speed collisions as they’re yanked inward. As all that space stuff rips apart, smashes together, and spaghettifies, temperatures soar.  Read more…

It wasn’t long ago that your average person had no clue what an NFT was. Nowadays, they’re making headlines for selling for hundreds of thousands of bucks. Predictably, folks are learning about NFTs fast.

An NFT — or a non-fungible token — is a type of cryptocurrency where you basically own a unique digital object. Think of it sort of like digital art. So naturally, people have forked over lots of cash of classic memes — effectively the foundational works of digital art.

A newly discovered species of gigantic rhino that used to roam Asia around 25 million years ago was detailed by scientists in a paper published in Nature Thursday.

With a name that just rolls right off the tongue, the newly minted Paraceratherium linxiaense was pieced together from a well-preserved skull and a few vertebrae found in the Gansu province of north-central China, in the Linxia Basin. 

Other, more complete skeletons of members of the Paraceratherium genus revealed that these hornless, giant rhinos stood at about 16 feet tall and 26 feet long, and weighed 22 tons, making them the largest land mammals in history…that we’ve found. For comparison: The largest elephants that currently walk the Earth are around 13 feet tall and weigh 7 tons. Read more…
