Leslie Jones and Matt Damon nearly kick each other’s asses over Weezer on ‘SNL’

TwitterFacebook

In this Saturday Night Live sketch, a normal dinner party at a neighbor’s house turns into an all-out duel when Leslie Jones and Matt Damon realize they have dissenting opinions about Weezer. In one corner, Damon has respect for the band’s later work and considers himself a “ride or die.” In the other, Jones stands as a Weezer purist who thinks everything after Pinkerton is trash.

If you’ve ever wanted to see these two throw down like the world is going to end over the fate of Rivers Cuomo, this is probably the sketch to watch.

Cuomo himself responded to the sketch in a Sunday tweet.

THEY HAD A WHOLE ASS SKIT ABOUT WEEZER AND ME ON SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE AND IM ACTUALLY CRYING AAAGGGGHHHHHHH

Climate talks end with a deal to keep countries committed to the Paris Agreement

TwitterFacebook

There’s now a set of standards for all Paris Agreement-aligned countries to stick to as they work to mitigate the harmful effects of climate change.

The deal between the agreement’s nearly 200 participating countries came after an all-night negotiating session at the COP24 conference in Katowice, Poland. It establishes a “rulebook” aimed at guiding countries toward planning and implementing climate-focused policies and measuring the effects of emissions.

Prada apologizes for ‘Pradamalia’ toys that evoke racist blackface imagery

TwitterFacebook

In the 2018 holiday season, luxury fashion brands appear to be competing with one another for worst case of tone deaf racism.

On the heels of Dolce & Gabbana’s disastrous Chinese ad campaign, Prada found itself embroiled in its own controversy over monkey toys and keychains accused of evoking racist imagery. The company later apologized on Twitter, promising to recall the offensive figurines from its new “Pradamalia” line of collectibles.

SEE ALSO: Megyn Kelly’s show reportedly ending soon

“The Pradamalia are fantasy charms composed of elements of the Prada oeuvre. They are imaginary creatures not intended to have any reference to the real world and certainly not blackface,” the company statement read. “Prada Group never had the intention of offending anyone and we abhor all forms of racism and racist imagery. In this interest, we will withdraw all of the characters in question from display and circulation.” Read more…

HBO’s Benedict Cumberbatch-led take on Brexit gets both a trailer and a heaping pile of backlash

TwitterFacebook

Because 2018 continues to be a mad libs soup of WTF, HBO recently released a trailer for its upcoming Brexit movie with Benedict Cumberbatch starring as the controversial Leave campaign leader, Dominic Cummings.

It’s two minutes of “lol wut?” and people are taking the premium cable channel to task for it on Twitter.

SEE ALSO: ‘Game of Thrones’ was 2018’s most on-demand show, despite no new episodes

Understandably, most of the ire is coming from the folks who are actually still caught up in the clusterfuck of an as-yet-unfinished Brexit. The trailer dropped at a particularly bad time, with debates over negotiation deals between UK and EU reaching a fever pitch over the past week as British prime minister Theresa May faced a no-confidence vote and the possibility of a second referendum started to seem more plausible. Meet Tango, the weirdest horse on Twitter

TwitterFacebook

Move over, Lil’ Sebastian. There’s a new viral horse in town: Tango.

Twitter user @mckellogs recently started sharing photos of her horse Tango. As someone who identifies as “not a horse girl,” I was skeptical until this particular Tango thread pulled me in.

That’s the Tango magic.

@mckellogs told Mashable that her family adopted Tango and his mother, Lulu, after their owners could no longer afford them. Tango has since grown up largely independently, rarely socializing with other horses. As result he’s become something of an … individual.

Here’s how @mckellogs describes him: Read more…

Twitter wants advertisers to ditch Tucker Carlson after his latest xenophobic remarks

TwitterFacebook

Words still occasionally have consequences — even on Fox News.

After Tucker Carlson accused immigrants of making America “dirtier” on his show Thursday night, outrage quickly followed. On Friday, one of Carlson’s most prominent advertisers, Pacific Life, announced that it would be pausing advertising on the show while the company “re-evaluated” its relationship with the program.

SEE ALSO: 12 times Fox News goofed in 2018

Here is Tucker’s original comment in full:

“Nice people, no one doubts that, but as an economic matter, this is insane,” Tucker said of low-skilled immigrants. “It’s indefensible, so nobody even tries to defend it. Instead, our leaders demand that you shut up and accept this. We have a moral obligation to admit the world’s poor, they tell us, even if it makes our own country poorer, and dirtier, and more divided. Immigration is a form of atonement. Previous leaders of our country committed sins; we must pay for those sins by welcoming an endless chain of migrant caravans.” Read more…
