The question of how folks instinctively draw an X has gone viral, thanks to a thread by Twitter user @SMASEY. It’s divided Twitter in a way we haven’t seen since the whole Yanny/Laurel debate of 2018. 

“Which way do you draw an X?” she asked, presenting eight possibilities, each showing a different colour for the first stroke and arrows indicating the direction of the strokes. Read more…

Ja Rule claims he’s a Fyre Fest victim too in a tweetstorm about the new documentaries

After the release of two documentaries about the ill-fated Fyre Festival, former company co-founder Ja Rule took to Twitter to shed light on who the real victim of the situation was: himself.

Over a period of hours on Sunday, Ja Rule defended himself with the claim that people shouldn’t think they know the truth after watching the Hulu and Netflix documentaries. But with little in the way of specifics being shared, things quickly got ugly from there.

Jon Bon Jovi’s restaurant will offer free meals to furloughed government workers

As Donald Trump’s partial shutdown of the U.S. government approaches the end of its first (and hopefully last) month, every little bit helps. Jon Bon Jovi is doing his part.

The ’80s rocker — he’s had quite an accomplished career, but memories of Slippery When Wet will never fade — owns and operates New Jersey’s JBJ Soul Kitchen with his wife and business partner, Dorothea. The two have offered to treat any furloughed federal employees to a free lunch on Monday.

“Since founding the Soul Kitchen, we wanted to ensure that anyone struggling with food insecurity had a place to go,” the pair said in a statement, via NBC Philadelphia. “This Monday, we will be open for lunch as a way to create a place of support and resources for furloughed federal workers, many of whom are our friends and neighbors.” Read more…

Gillian Anderson will play Margaret Thatcher in ‘The Crown’ Season 4

The third season of Netflix’s royal drama The Crown isn’t even out yet, but one crucial role for the show’s fourth season has already been cast, and it’s a big one. 

Deadline reports that Gillian Anderson of The X-Files fame will play the UK’s first female prime minister, Margaret Thatcher.

Thatcher has been portrayed onscreen by nearly a dozen different actors in various productions, most memorably by Meryl Streep in 2011’s The Iron Lady. Anderson previously starred in Netflix’s original show Sex Education, which was considered a hit for the streaming giant.  Read more…

Kim Kardashian’s daughter had the most extra first birthday party ever

Kim Kardashian took her Hidden Hills, Calif. mansion down an Alice in Wonderland rabbit hole for her daughter Chicago’s first birthday.

Complete with elaborately dressed characters, an indoor maze, rose awnings, an arts and crafts section, and themed sweets like a Cheshire Cat cake, it was a party fit for a princess. And little baby Chi absolutely looked the part in her adorable white dress and ribbons.

New ‘Shazam’ trailer shows the fun side of being a superhero

Previous Shazam trailers have focused on the story of how Billy Batson gained the power to transform into a superhero, but new look at DC’s upcoming movie has a little more heroic flair. 

Some of Shazam’s powers look particularly awesome, like his super-fast flight and lightning beams, but at the heart of it he’s still a kid who wants to play around with being a big guy. Hence the beer. And the…real estate agent?

There are three models of Samsung Galaxy S10 and a photo of all three apparently leaked

Samsung is supposed to lift the veil off of its next-gen Galaxy S10 smartphone on Feb. 20 at an Unpacked event. Unfortunately, the internet got there first.

Details about the various models of S10 have been leaking out since last summer, but this newest development just straight-up shows us what they look like. There are three models in all, and they’re encased in see-through plastic cases in the allegedly leaked image.

Leslie Jones *really* isn’t a fan of the ‘insulting’ new ‘Ghostbusters’ sequel plan

Jason Reitman’s announced Ghostbusters movie will be a continuation of the original two films and will likely not include the 2016 female-led reboot of the franchise in its canon. 

Leslie Jones, who played Ghostbuster Patty Tolan in the 2016 movie, tweeted her feelings about the situation in response to three separate people who publicly wished that the sequel would find a way to include the lady Ghostbusters.

FDA boss threatens ‘game over’ for e-cigs if companies won’t keep kids away

The head of the Food and Drug Administration has threatened to pull e-cigarettes out of U.S. markets entirely unless e-cig makers take greater measures to curb the youth’s use of their products. 

Speaking at a public hearing Friday, Scott Gottlieb, the FDA Commissioner, said he was “horrified” at the surge in rates of teen vaping, NBC reported. More than 3 million U.S. teens use e-cigarettes, an increase of 78 percent since 2011, according to recent CDC data.

“I still believe e-cigarettes present an opportunity for adult smokers to transition off cigarettes and onto nicotine delivery products that may not have the same level of risks,” Gottlieb wrote in a tweet ahead of the hearing. “However, if the youth use continues to rise, the entire category will face an existential threat.” Read more…
