Star Wars land will sell blue milk, lightsabers and … space Diet Coke?

TwitterFacebook

When Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens in Disneyland next month (and Disney World in August), we’ll finally see how many details Lucasfilm and Disney Imagineers have sweated to make the experience — set in a Resistance base called Black Spire Outpost — extremely immersive.

You’ll be able to sip blue milk at a Cantina (featuring the first new music from Cantina band The Modal Nodes in 42 years), hack outpost computers with your phone, barter for lightsabers, and browse a store of Jedi artifacts where you may well have a Force-filled encounter with Yoda, voiced by Frank Oz. Amazing, it all sounds. Read more…

Donald Glover used AirDrop to give people free shoes at Coachella

TwitterFacebook

It turns out that AirDrop might be good for something other than unsolicited dick pics after all.

Random attendees at the annual (and extremely Instagram-friendly) Coachella festival were surprised April 12 with an AirDrop request to accept a photo from an account claiming to be Donald Glover. As in the actor and musician also known as Childish Gambino. Those who took the leap of faith and welcomed a picture share from a random stranger were treated to a new pair of shoes.

Yes, Donald Glover was giving away sneakers at Coachella.

Selena Gomez returns to the stage in surprise Cardi B Coachella performance

TwitterFacebook

Selena Gomez made her triumphant return to the stage with a little help from her friends.

On Friday night, Gomez joined her pal DJ Snake’s Coachella set to perform their hit song “Taki Taki” alongside Cardi B and Ozuna. Not only was it Gomez’s first time singing at Coachella, but it marked her first public performance since singing with her friend Taylor Swift at a May 2018 Reputation Tour stop.

Gomez has taken some time out of the spotlight following reports of a panic attack in 2018. She reportedly checked herself into a treatment facility to recover, and has been slowly reemerging, returning from her social media hiatus earlier in 2019. Read more…

Taylor Swift’s stealing the spotlight from ‘Avengers: Endgame’ with her mystery countdown clock

TwitterFacebook

As every entertainment, movie, and Marvel comic fan must certainly know by now, April 26, 2019 — the day the highly-anticipated film, Avengers: Endgame, hits theaters — is sacred.

It’s the day many people will hold their pee to sit in a movie theater for more then three hours so they can probably (almost definitely) watch Captain America die, learn if Thanos will finally be defeated, and see if our beloved fallen heroes will be brought back to life. But Taylor Swift doesn’t seem to care.

On Thursday night the singer launched a mysterious countdown clock on her website and social media accounts that sent fans spiraling. It’s unlabeled, so it could signal a new project, an announcement, or new music for all we know, but the countdown has the nerve to end on the already hyped Avengers: Endgame day. Read more…

Mike Gravel’s campaign is proof that more politicians need meme tutors

TwitterFacebook

In the age of surrealist memes and viral content, why aren’t more politicians seeking out shitposting tutors?

Mike Gravel joined Twitter on Mar. 30, and has been spicing up the 2020 race ever since. The former Alaskan senator officially added his name to the ever-growing roster of Democratic presidential candidates in a video Monday, calling for a “Gravelanche” to push centrist politicians further left. He doesn’t plan on actually winning; his goal is to simply make it to the debates so he can challenge contenders on their neoliberal policies in favor of more leftist ones.

“My message, centered around an anti-imperialist foreign policy and fundamental political reform, is one that no other Democratic candidate is making the centerpiece of their campaign,” Gravel said in a statement, according to Rolling Stone. “After the first two debates, I will drop out and endorse the most progressive candidate.” Read more…

YouTube’s algorithm pushed a sexist video about Katie Bouman, the scientist behind the black hole photo

TwitterFacebook

This week, scientists brought us the first-ever picture of a black holeKatie Bouman, a 29-year-old MIT graduate student, led the team that developed the algorithm making this photo possible. She quickly became the face of the historical scientific achievement.

Just two days later, however, a sexist video attacking Bouman was the top result for her name on YouTube.

That’s right: YouTube’s search algorithm found a video promoting a Reddit conspiracy claiming Bouman didn’t deserve as much credit as one of her male co-workers to be the most relevant result for her name.

Enjoy this delightfully chaotic goat chase from two perspectives

TwitterFacebook

If you happen to stumble across some goats wandering around your backyard, you should probably just let them be.

One girl learned that the hard way — and it’s forever immortalized on video.

Twitter user @sophiemilner981 posted a video of her friend jogging after a lost goat that had ambled into her yard. Followed by her dog, the friend starts out, holding out her phone during the pursuit in an effort to capture the intruder on camera. But then the goat decides to turn the tables and chase her instead. She ends up manically sprinting back towards her house.

The second half of the video is even more beautiful, because it shows her perspective.  Read more…

The ‘Here we go again’ meme is perfect for every frustrating situation

TwitterFacebook

“Ah shit, here we go again.” Oh, the endless possibilities of that simple statement.

Twitter has taken another relatable quote that can be applied to any number of situations and ran wild with it. And this time, we have the gamers to thank for it.

Taken from a memorable scene in the 2004 game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the quote immediately follows the opening cutscene in which the main character, Carl “CJ” Johnson, finds himself in a corrupt neighborhood.

Watch this dog show off his very good soccer skills

TwitterFacebook

It’s widely known that most dogs are good at fetch, it’s less known that some dogs are soccer superstars.

This video of Zeus, uploaded to Twitter by @monicanuevaa, depicts the pup showing off his fancy footwork — err paw-work. He’s sadly doing a much better job demonstrating his soccer skills than most humans I know.
