A tween helped save her friend’s life by using some basic first aid knowledge she learned from reading The Hunger Games.
Megan Gething, 12, was playing with her friends in a marsh in Gloucester, Massachusetts when tragedy struck. Her friend, Mackenzie George, fell in the mud and sliced her leg on a steel pump.
“I didn’t feel anything. I thought I just bumped my leg, but when I pulled it up I saw the cut and I started screaming to call 911,” Mackenzie told the Gloucester Times.

Thankfully, her friend Megan has a great taste in books. By accessing her knowledge of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Megan quickly utilized the basic first aid skills she learned from the young adult novel. Read more…
