The unsexy source of Amazon’s profit hot streak

TwitterFacebook

Amazon may swallow up nearly half of every dollar spent on online shopping, but that isn’t what’s fueled its nine-quarter profitability streak.

The real money flows from a northern Virginia server compound from which the company powers Netflix, Slack, Pinterest and thousands of other sites that make up close to half of the web.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) once again lifted the company’s quarterly earnings into the black in an otherwise lukewarm report in which it fell short of Wall Street expectations and recorded a profit dip of nearly 80 percent. Read more…

Absorb the thunderous acting of Terry Crews in ‘Crackdown 3’ like his muscles would absorb you

TwitterFacebook

The excitement over Sumo Digital’s upcoming Crackdown 3 has been lukewarm at best. But the one human being on the planet who could fix that is the man, thy myth, the legend: Terry Crews.

At a recent Comic-Con panel for the game (above), the designers released a video introducing his playable character. Named after Crews’ own son (who got him back into gaming in the first place), Commander Isaiah Jackson of the Agents of Justice is the man your girl told you not to worry about.

Decked out in his “level 6” suit, the designers wanted to give the Commander special abilities that set him apart from the other level 1-5 agents. Using Crews himself for inspiration, they built the special gear to fit his larger-than-life personality and IRL power-ups (i.e. being the single most beautiful human being on planet Earth, both inside and out). Quiz: Who said it? Anthony Scaramucci or a Real Housewife?

TwitterFacebook

The office of the President of the United States is the best reality show out there.

It’s been kind of a shit show since Trump took office, to say the least. And the last few weeks have been extra juicy. Recently, Trump brought on Anthony “The Mooch” Scaramucci as his communications director, causing press secretary Sean Spicer to resign.

SEE ALSO: Omg, wtf, wait until you see what Anthony Scaramucci just said about Steve Bannon

On Thursday, The New Yorker published a bombshell interview with The Mooch and reporter Ryan Lizza. Scaramucci did not request the conversation be kept off record, and it was littered with some very nasty trash talk.  Read more…

‘StarCraft’ caster’s wife turned away at airport because infant twins violated safety regulations

TwitterFacebook

Tara Stemkoski, wife of professional StarCraft II caster Daniel “Artosis” Stemkoski, was planning on flying to her hometown with her three children to visit her sick grandmother. But Artosis was traveling to Shanghai to work the IEM Shanghai StarCraft II tournament, and so somehow that meant momma Stemkoski wasn’t legally allowed to board the plane.

Stemkoski booked an Air Canada flight from Seoul, South Korea, to Prince Edward Island in Canada, double-checking along the way that she’d be allowed to travel alone with her 3-month-old twins and 5-year-old daughter, CBC News reported Wednesday.  Read more…

Lmao, Twitter is going insane over the Scaramucci interview, and it’s awesome

TwitterFacebook

Trump’s fascinating new White House Communications Director seems to be falling right into line with the administration’s bizarre antics.

In a straight-up freaking weird phone interview with The New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza on Wednesday, Anthony Scaramucci unloaded a ton of incendiary and utterly unforgettable quotes.

While projectile vomiting his words to the reporter, he managed to burn a load of bridges with everyone from Steve Bannon to Reince Priebus.

Sometimes, when you are around the age of 20, you drink too much of the alcohol and you call a friend at 2 a.m. and say a bunch of horrendous things you will maybe forever regret, which is possibly now a prerequisite for the job of White House communications director.

Less than a week into his new job, Anthony Scaramucci gave possibly the most bat-shit insane interview of 2017, which is saying quite a lot. Quite. A. Lot.

The White House might have inflated Trump’s golf record, because this is how we live now

TwitterFacebook

The statement “President Trump has a big ego” is news to absolutely no one at this point. It was recently discovered the president even had a fake Time magazine cover (featuring himself, of course) framed at several of his golf courses. But would he really go so far as to have the transcript of a White House Press Conference altered after the fact just to make him seem like a better golfer?

Unfortunately, the answer is not a resounding “no.”

During last week’s press conference announcing the appointment of Anthony Scaramucci as the new White House communications director, Scaramucci began his tenure by heaping praise on the president’s surely giddy shoulders. Scaramucci proclaimed Trump could throw a football through a tire (?), and boasted that Trump “sinks three-foot putts. I don’t see this guy as a guy that’s ever under siege.” Read more…
