Trump apparently thinks he can make a ‘sneak’ UK visit, British protesters beg to differ

Donald Trump talked about space and Buzz Aldrin’s face says it all

Donald Trump’s bizarre ceremony to bring back the National Space Council had a lot of people wondering what the president’s baffling remarks about the cosmos really meant (one of them is J.K. Rowling).

But nobody was more purely and totally mystified than Buzz “second man on the moon” Aldrin.

After Vice President Mike Pence finished his introduction, Trump made a weird speech about space and security before signing his executive order to restore the advisory council, which was last active in 1993.

“Our travels beyond the Earth propel scientific discoveries that improve our lives in countless ways here,” Trump said. “At some point in the future, we’re going to look back and say how did we do it without space?”  Read more…

The final 6 ‘Game of Thrones’ episodes might end up feeling like a full season, thank the gods

As Game of Thrones Season 7 approaches, we can’t help but look ahead to the show’s final year — which may not air until 2019, if we truly are trapped in the Darkest Timeline, which is what it feels like right now.

Season 8 will only be six episodes long (following on from Season 7’s seven installments), and that’s just not enough Game of Thrones for our liking, even if HBO is already hard at work on potential spinoffs.

But at the Con of Thrones convention in Nashville this past weekend, the show’s sound designer, Paula Fairfield, gave us some hope about those six precious episodes — namely, that they could all be feature-length. Read more…

The duo is seen on video whizzing around all 28 hectares of the palace on a golf cart and enjoying the company of a dozen or so deers that live on the palace’s garden compounds.

They also had a meal at the palace’s on-site restaurant before Obama left for Jakarta, where he was due to speak at a conference on Saturday.

SpaceX rocket lands in swimming pool — in Apple ARKit-powered augmented reality

We’ve seen Elon Musk’s Tesla being virtually driven in augmented reality, so it’s only right that we also get a look at his SpaceX rockets in the amazing platform.

Another person experimenting with Apple’s ARKit showed off the Falcon 9 rocket returning from space and landing on a drone platform not at sea, but in the middle of his swimming pool in his backyard. From the sound effects to the shadows and perspective, it looks surprisingly real.

Yes, people are getting a little crazy with all these ARKit demos, but this one is too exciting to write off as just a cool AR trick. This looks like the future of AR, and we’re just getting started.  Read more…
