Creepy optical illusion of a lost cat poster turns its head as you walk by

TwitterFacebook

A missing cat poster also became a creepy optical illusion.

As you walk past the poster, the cat’s face appears to follow. When the viewer veers left, the cat’s head turns to watch. When you lean right, so does the missing cat.

“Probably escaped from Azkaban or something,” the Redditor who posted the video said.

But it’s not a dark magic power — it’s actually a pretty common optical illusion used in haunted houses. If you put concave cones behind the eyes of the illusion, it’ll look like the eyes will follow the viewer. Since the cat’s head is perfectly placed over a concave surface, it appears to turn its whole head as the viewer passes by.  Read more…

Is Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano shooting green gems into the air?

TwitterFacebook

Embedded in the lava still spewing some 130 feet into the air from Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano are green crystals.

Called olivine, these minerals can turn Hawaiian beaches green, and it appears some of the green gems are raining down upon homes near the eruption or popping up near lava flows.

“Yes, the lava that is erupting now is very crystal-rich and it is quite possible that residents might be finding olivine,” Cheryl Gansecki, a geologist at the University of Hawaii-Hilo that studies the composition of Kilauea’s lava, said over email.

YouTuber hilariously breaks down Jake Paul’s disaster of a live show

TwitterFacebook

Some people are really out here doing the Lord’s work.

YouTuber and Vine star Drew Gooden took one for the team and actually went to see Jake Paul’s live show — which, by the way, costs $1,143 for a “VIP Experience” that includes a selfie with Jake Paul and a chance to end up on his vlog.

Gooden, along with hundreds of screaming preteens and their parents, attended the live show at the House of Blues near Disney World, and had the perfect snarky commentary accompanying the break down.

“Everyone on stage that wasn’t Jake Paul seemed very aware that nobody cared about them,” Gooden quipped, “because they’re not Jake Paul … they would come up with ways every 30 seconds or so to remind people that Jake Paul was here.”  Read more…
