Lime’s new e-scooter will tell you where you can’t park

TwitterFacebook

Lime has some new wheels.

The company’s Generation 3 e-scooter is more tech-savvy and sturdy than the last model. It’s coming out in some cities next month and will roll out to every city Lime operates in (currently more than 100) in early 2019.

The new scooter has bigger wheels, a wider body, and a better suspension system and braking. But it’s the 2.8-inch color screen that will hopefully help cities with its scooter problems, like blocked walkways and cluttered entryways to businesses.

The display shows your speed and battery capacity, but it can also share riding safety tips, like wear a helmet or only one person per scooter. (If only it could tell you not to hack your scooter to look like this or this.)  Read more…

This absurd parody proves that all TED Talks really do sound the same

TwitterFacebook

It’s not just you: A lot of TED Talks sound the same.

Comedian and writer Keaton Patti — who imagined what a White House press briefing written by a bot might sound like — just shared a new imagined bot script, this time parodying the language of lofty TED Talks.

The “visibly clothed” TED TALKER opens the bizarrely inspirational lecture — given in a “place where you can talk” — with an anecdote about his or her grandfather, who was “paid for for being old.”

“He told me there’s just enough plastic in the ocean for someone to marry,” the TED TALKER states. “But we’re almost out of time.” The audience doesn’t care much about the actual TED Talk, but are insistent that they be shown graphs. Read more…

OnePlus’s highly anticipated next-generation flagship phone, the 6T, was originally supposed to launch on Oct. 30, but now the company has moved the event date to Oct. 29, no doubt because another tech behemoth is also holding a product launch event on Oct. 30. (We’re looking at you Apple.)
