Marshawn Lynch’s big mood stole the Super Bowl pregame show

TwitterFacebook

Super Bowl LII isn’t even over and we already have an MVP.

Ahead of the kickoff on Sunday night, Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch stole the show during the presentation of the Walter Payton Man of the Year award.

As the camera panned across the players gathered on the field for the presentation, it caught Lynch — decked out in a branded sweatsuit from his apparel line — sitting down, while everyone else around him was standing

Usain Bolt tied the NFL’s fastest 40-yard dash and he was super chill about it

TwitterFacebook

Usain Bolt really just did that.

The retired Olympian tied the NFL’s record for the fastest 40-yard dash, clocking in at 4.22 seconds, and he wasn’t even wearing specialized running spikes. He did it in literal sweatpants and casual sneakers.

People were not surprised at all that the nine time gold medalist is … fast.

Crazy stuff… the fastest guy in the world is the fastest guy in the world.

A cat crashed a soccer game and refused to leave

TwitterFacebook

A whole soccer match came to a halt when a cat decided to go for a run across the field.

During a Premier League game between Everton and Wolves on Saturday, a feline player wandered onto the pitch and started sprinting.

“A black cat is on the field!” the announcer said, convinced that someone had smuggled “kittles” into the stadium.

The two teams watched the cat run back and forth across the field, stopping the game entirely. The crowd, meanwhile, cheered whenever it managed to evade the stadium security’s best efforts to corner it.  Read more…

Virginia’s governor held a press conference to prove he’s not a racist. It didn’t go well.

TwitterFacebook

It hasn’t been a good Saturday for Virginia Governor Ralph Northam.

Northam made headlines on Friday after his personal page from a 1984 yearbook surfaced featuring a photo of two men: one wearing Ku Klux Klan robes and a hood, and the other in blackface. Hours after the offensive image surfaced, the Virginia governor released a statement.

Northam, a Democrat who was elected to the office of governor in 2018’s election, quickly faced calls  to resign from within his own party. Among those calling for his exit are Virginia House Democrats, the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus, assorted would-be candidates for the 2020 presidential election, and a growing lineup of others. ‘Fortnite’ staged an entire Marshmello concert inside the game

TwitterFacebook

Fortnite is a video game, a meme machine, an occasional subject of controversy, and now… a concert venue.

Marshmello set up shop on a virtual stage set up inside the game on Saturday. He was there to perform, and that’s exactly what he did. The proof is all over social media.

Fortnite maker Epic Games treated the whole thing like an actual, real world event. Construction work on the stage began earlier in the week, as players discovered when they ventured into the Pleasant Park section of the game’s map and visited the football field found there.

It took a couple days.

‘Groundhog Day’ VR game let’s you revisit Bill Murray’s 1993 adventure as his son

TwitterFacebook

Groundhog Day has been a movie and a musical, so why not make it a virtual reality game next?

Sony Pictures has teamed up with Tequila Works — the studio behind 2017’s wonderful indie efforts Rime and The Sexy Brutale — for Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son. It’s a……… sequel? To Groundhog Day? Set 26 years later, where you’re playing as Phil Connors’ son as he’s caught in the same kind of time loop as his dad?

Sure, why not?

This game looks completely cuckoo bananas, though it’s not yet clear if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. There’s reason to be hopeful with Tequila Works at the helm though! And Groundhog Day, the 1993 film, is such a wonderful, well-told story. Any chance to spend a little more time in that world is a welcome thing. Read more…
