A space nerd’s guide to the Great American Eclipse

On August 21, the skies above a large swath of the contiguous United States will darken to an eerie twilight as the moon passes between the Earth and the sun, casting a dark shadow on the face of our planet. 

And we’re here for it — in a big way. 

This marks the first time a total solar eclipse will grace skies above the lower 48 states since 1979, and it’s the first eclipse of its kind to pass from coast to coast in about a century. 

The eclipse will pass from Oregon to South Carolina, and we’ll bring it to you live with expert insight from Tennessee and New York City, along with images from dozens of livestreams from NASA and others.  Read more…
